During the summer semester of the academic year 2024/2025, participants of the Rijeka School of Croatian Studies took part in numerous activities: including: a lecture and workshop Croatian Cinema with Dejan Durić (film The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent), the Comic Book Festival at the Children’s House, the inclusive ballet performance Cinderella at the Croatian National Theatre Ivan pl. Zajc, a guided tour of Kortil Gallery, the screening of The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent at the Psycho, Media, and Film Festival, the open-air screening of the film Fiume o morte in the small harbour in Kantrida, and the creation of their own fanzine at the Rijeka City Library under the guidance of our collaborator Maja Ogrizović. The strong interest demonstrated by our participants in these activities suggests that language learning should occur not only in formal classroom settings but also through cultural and social engagement.
